pH Check with Zion Covenant, Jamestown, NY
|
Recently, I had the privilege of speaking with Jay Baehr, the Administrative Pastor at Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown, NY. Our conversation centered around a transformative journey that began when Peg Cichon, the GLC’s Vitality Liaison, invited Zion Covenant to participate in a pH Check, an assessment designed to illuminate both strengths and areas for growth within the church.
|
In the fall of ’25, Zion Covenant embraced this opportunity for honest self-reflection. The assessment provided valuable insights: while some areas showed beautiful growth, surprising to some, but not to Jay, it became evident how closely aligned the congregation is with ECC values, especially around Compassion, Mercy, and Justice. For Jay and his team, these findings reinforced their commitment to fostering a welcoming and caring environment.

A Lifetime Calling – A Devotional

Luke 2:22-28. In this passage, we encounter Jesus’ family, who are devoted Jews following the Biblical commandments and instructions. Mary comes to the temple to complete her purification rights forty days after giving birth, to offer a sacrifice after the birth of Jesus, and to consecrate their first-born son.

Midwinter is more than a conference—it’s a sanctuary. A place to worship, learn, and be restored. Together pastors and leaders are renewed in Christ’s love and strengthened for the sacred work of leading and serving—side by side, with one another. This year the theme is - One Another.
