New Community Covenant Church in The D!
|
Recently, a group of 12 high school and college-aged youth headed out on a transformative mission trip to Detroit, guided by Justin Bowers, the lead pastor of New Community Covenant Church in Buckhannon, WV. This adventure was more than just a mission trip; it was an opportunity for these young individuals to engage deeply with the community and learn about the significant work being done by local ministries.

During their time in Detroit, they met with Semmeal Thomas, the lead pastor at City Covenant Church in the Brightmoore community of Detroit. Together, they rolled up their sleeves for some hands-on service at Hope House and the Hospitality House – two vital organizations that serve local residents. They participated in essential chores – weeded gardens, mulched pathways, and cleaned communal spaces—all while building genuine relationships with residents. Such experiences not only provided immediate assistance but also fostered meaningful connections that are vital for community spirit.
