Director of Congregational Vitality

¼ time

  • Accountable to GLC Board and GLC Superintendent 
  • Salaried
  • Required: pursuing or recipient of the Certificate of Congregational Vitality and/or proven expertise in the area of Congregational Vitality, CV Pathway awareness and advocacy; emotionally healthy in personal spirituality and leadership

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with denominational Start and Strengthen Churches: Congregational Vitality 
  • Participate with GLC Board, including meetings
  • Primary representative of GLC CV
  • Oversight of GLC Vitality budget
  • Oversight of vision and direction
  • Oversight of GLC vitality staff and team leaders
  • Coordinate GLC churches on the CV Pathway by assigning a Vitality Facilitator, Pastor’s Coach and a Vitality Coach
  • Assist in CV Pathway workshops and leadership
  • Lead one church on CV Pathway annually
  • Makes SCC vitality conference recommendations to Superintendent and SSC 
  • Oversee the planning and leading of Vitality Retreat (Fall), Vitality Day (GLC Annual Meeting), and connection opportunities at additional GLC events utilizing other members of the GLC Vitality Team as appropriate
  • Oversee the planning and leading of GLC Vitality opportunities at ECC events (Midwinter, Gather ) utilizing other members of the GLC Vitality Team as appropriate
  • Provide written reports as required to the GLC Board/Superintendent
  • Additional tasks as assigned by GLC Superintendent 

Vitality Facilitators

Assigned by DCV to facilitate local church through the Vitality Pathway per assignment:  pay per workshop facilitation ($1000 + travel)

  • Accountable directly to the Director of Congregational Vitality
  • Required: pursuing or recipient of the Certificate of Congregational Vitality and/or proven expertise in the area of Congregational Vitality, CV Pathway awareness and advocacy; emotionally healthy in personal spirituality and leadership

Responsibilities:

  • Leads one or more churches on the Vitality Pathway
  • Facilitates the workshop planning and details with local church contacts
  • Coordinates the Vitality Pathway work with the assigned coaches for each church
  • Participate with the DCV in planning and leading CV related events for the GLC as available
  • Communicate with and recruit GLC churches to the Congregational Vitality Pathway
  • Be an encourager of vitality in the local cluster by sharing stories and encouraging pastors to be part of the vitality process or engage in a touchpoint of Vitality
  • Participate in ECC/GLC Congregational Vitality events such as the SSC Vitality conference, regional conference and denomination CV events such as Annual Meetings, Vitality Days, pastoral retreats, insight visits, etc… as available and requested by the DCV (travel paid/ stipend varies)  
  • Participate in phone conferences to access, evaluate, and review facilitation, church challenges, coaching roles, etc… to ensure successful and ongoing effective support for the GLC Team and the churches, pastors and leaders it supports
  • Provide online/written reports as required to the DCV 

 

Vitality Coaches Team Leader

Assigned by DCV to coordinate the Pastor and Vitality Coaches for Pathway churches per assignment: pay per monthly facilitation of team ($150)

  • Required: pursuing or recipient of the Certificate of Congregational Vitality and/or proven expertise in the area of Congregational Vitality, CV Pathway awareness and advocacy; emotionally healthy in personal spirituality and leadership
  • Training: Active Listening Training through ECC consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Provide monthly conference call or written report to DCV summarizing the work of the Coaching Team
  • Tracking/monitoring progress of coaching team via online forms
  • Participate in and assist in the support and encouragement of the Coaching team to attend
    • Pre- Annual Meeting training/recruiting as available
    • Pre- Pastors retreat as available
  • Be an encourager of vitality in his/her local cluster by sharing stories and encouraging pastors to be part of the vitality process or touch points of Vitality
  • Communication of VIM and other touch points of Vitality opportunities to DCV

Pastor’s Coach Team Member*

Assigned by DCV/Team Leader to resource and support pastors through the pathway

Minimum of 12-18 phone calls, possible on site visit as approved

Per assignment: $50 per monthly contact as provided

  • Required: pursuing or recipient of the Certificate of Congregational Vitality and/or proven expertise in the area of Congregational Vitality, CV Pathway awareness, participation, and advocacy; emotionally healthy in personal spirituality and leadership
  • Training: Active Listening Training through ECC Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Establish contact with assigned pastor
  • Regularly direct (phone or face-to-face) contact with assigned pastor for 12-18 months (20-30 min expectations per agreement/need with assignee) 
    • Payment made based on actual call
    • Note on monthly report if no call requested by the assignee
  • Participate with the GLC team members in training events as invited/offered*
    • Pre- Annual Meeting training/recruiting
    • Pre- Pastors retreat 
    • Additional as needed/offered

*while attendance is not always mandatory, or fully funded, some trainings will be required prior to serving as a coach

  • If recommended by DCV, an onsite visit to the assigned pastor may be requested
  • Provide monthly written report to Coaching Team leader summarizing the communication with the assigned pastor
  • Be an encourager of vitality in the local cluster by sharing stories and recruiting pastors to be part of the vitality process

 

Vitality Coach Team Member*

Assigned by DCV/Team Leader to support a local church vitality team leader through the pathway

Minimum of 12-18 phone calls, possible on site visit as approved 

Per assignment: $50 per monthly contact as provided

  • Required: pursuing or recipient of the Certificate of Congregational Vitality and/or proven expertise in the area of Congregational Vitality, CV Pathway awareness, participation, and advocacy; emotionally healthy in personal spirituality and leadership
  • Application and acceptance into the ECC VFN training process and its requirements
  • Training: Active Listening Training through ECC Consultant and ongoing ECC opportunities

Responsibilities:

  • Establish contact with assigned Vitality Team Chairperson
  • Regularly direct (phone or face-to-face) contact with Vitality Team Chairperson for 12-18 months (20-30 min expectations per agreement/need with assignee) 
    • Payment made based on actual call
    • Note on monthly report if no call requested by the assignee
  • Participate with the GLC team members in training events as invited/offered*
    • Pre- Annual Meeting training/recruiting
    • Pre- Pastors retreat 
    • Additional as needed/offered

*while attendance is not always mandatory, or fully funded, some trainings will be required prior to serving as a coach

  • Face to face contact encouraged via GLC events, conference call capabilities.  On site visits only as approved by DCV 
  • Provide monthly written report to VFN Team leader summarizing the communication with Vitality Chairperson
  • 2-3 Conference calls per year as scheduled by the coordinator with the team
  • Be a voice for vitality in the local cluster by sharing story and recruiting pastors to be part of the vitality process

Healthy Missional Marker Facilitator

  • Required: pursuing or recipient of the Certificate of Congregational Vitality and/or proven expertise in the area of Congregational Vitality, CV Pathway awareness, participation, and advocacy; emotionally healthy in personal spirituality and leadership

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a Touch Point seminar to vitality:  presentation that assists churches in addressing a specific healthy missional marker
  • Present as assigned by DCV for a requested resource training to a leadership team and/or congregation to assist a church through the pathway or towards a Healthy Missional learning and practice
  • Provide written follow up report to DCV summarizing the workshop experience 
  • Encourage vitality engagement in the local cluster by sharing story and recruiting pastors to be part of the vitality process
