Common Q&A about the GLC Annual Celebration

The GLC Annual Celebration is designed to incorporate the business of the Annual Meeting and  a celebration of the ministry of all that God has done in and through the churches of the Great Lakes Conference.

All GLC church attendees are invited to the GLC Annual Celebration. While only church-elected delegates receive delegate materials and the right to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, there are many opportunities for church member participation.

Is the Annual Celebration cancelled due to COVID-19?

In an earlier communication the GLC office pledged to let the GLC churches know by April 1 how we will accomplish the Annual Celebration. By law, all Ohio incorporated nonprofit entities (which we are) must have an annual meeting of, and report to, its members. So, simply canceling the meeting and waiting until next year is not a good option.

This week, the GLC Executive Board will be considering a variety of other options, including virtual/digital possibilities for the meeting or postponing to later in the year. We anticipate that the GLC board will have decided on an option by this Friday (March 20). The GLC office will then communicate the plan to the churches.

In the meantime, please hold off registering for the Annual Celebration until the new meeting plan has been established.

PENDING:

Where will the Annual Celebration be held?

As a reminder, there are TWO host churches for this year’s GLC Annual Celebration. Both Faith Covenant Church and Sanctuary Columbus Church will be host sites. Events will happen at both venues.

Where can I register and find the brochure?

Which events will be held at each host site?

Event locations are found in ORANGE writing on the Schedule — page 4 of the brochure.

Who will be teaching each of the Workshops?

Workshop facilitators are found in BLACK writing under the Workshop Descriptions — page 5 of the brochure.

Where are the workshops being held?

Workshop locations are found in WHITE writing next to the Workshop Description titles — page 5 of the brochure.

My choice for Workshop A is at one host church. My choice for Workshop B is at the other host church. Will there be enough time for me to switch locations during the break?

Yes, the schedule allows for a 15-minute window-of-time between the end of Workshop A and the start of Workshop B. All of our workshop facilitators are aware of the high probability of attendees needing to switch locations and will be more than accommodating with end and start times.

I don’t see any information about childcare. Will this be available?

We have offered childcare in the past; however, it has not been utilized. With little-to-no interest in the past coupled with the dual-location of this year’s Annual Celebration, childcare will not be offered.
