The Leadership Connection (TLC) is an essential event for pastors, ministry leaders, and leadership teams in the region. This year, the conference will be held at Faith Covenant Church in Farmington Hills, MI on September 21st, and it promises to be a transformative experience.

The lineup of workshops is particularly compelling. The “Safe Sanctuaries” seminar, led by Ramelia Williams from the ECC, is a must-attend for those seeking to increase their efficacy in responding to congregants or community members who come forward with accounts of abuse. Studies show that 25% of women and 10% of men experience violence in intimate partner relationships with emotional, physical, and spiritual consequences. This means the people in the pews and the community surrounding our churches have been affected. This training is a critical step in ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities.

The “The Post-Church Church” seminar, based on the book by Peter Sung, offers a thought-provoking exploration of the shift from program and place to people and practice. This six-hour presentation and discussion, followed by two hours of guided reflection by Matt Ness (GLC Spiritual Director), will challenge attendees to reflect about the way they approach church and ministry. Peter is a psychologist, an executive coach, an author, and a professional speaker as well as a former church planter and denominational leader.

Finally, the “Church Chair Training” is an exceptional opportunity for Covenant Church Chairs to flourish in their unique roles. Assembled by the ECC, this training features a team of seasoned Covenant Church leaders who will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed. We are offering the training using a combination of video recordings of live sessions (in the GLC) with the experts – followed by time with experienced resource people for Questions and Answers.
