Pantry on the Corner at Journey Covenant Church
Journey Covenant Church is shining the light of the Lord throughout their community of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio through their Pantry on the Corner Drive-Thru.
Even amidst social distancing directives, they have been opening the pantry weekly on Monday evenings. Volunteers unload trucks, set up tables, pack boxes, move food to the parking lot, and clean up everything once finished. The COVID-19 pandemic has made for an extra measure of administrative planning and organization to meet all the safety requirements.
The day after Easter, they served 62 families and 175 individuals in less than 35 minutes. This was four times greater than the number of people they normally serve in a 2-hour time span.
Pastor Jeanette Brown is so grateful for her team of volunteers helping during this time of uncertainty.
People in the community have been asking how they can help. Community help is always welcome. Currently, the pantry is giving away food (bread, produce and meat as available) and some paper products. In the next week, they plan to gather hygiene items to pack for families. Basic examples include soap, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
If you feel led to donate to the “Pantry on the Corner” cause in Cuyahoga Falls, please include a note which states “Pandemic Relief” along with your physical item donation.
For a monetary donation, please remember to note “Pandemic Relief” in the memo line of the check, as this will allow the church to purchase necessary items.
