GLC Happenings at Gather ‘19 – ECC Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting is the highest legislative body of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), made up of representatives from Covenant churches throughout the United States and Canada. Delegates gather together for worship and fellowship, and to ordain ministers, consecrate missionaries, elect leaders, review finances, adopt a budget, and address the business of the church. ECC Related:
- Paul Robinson was elected to serve as the executive minister of Love Mercy and Do Justice
- Paul Lessard was elected to serve as executive minister of Start and Strengthen Churches
- Twelve churches were received into membership, twenty church planters were commissioned and eight missionaries were commissioned and endorsed for service
GLC Related:
During the Saturday ordination service, 41 individuals were ordained to Word and Sacrament; 5 individuals were ordained to Word and Service; and 4 individuals transferred their ordinations. Of the individuals receiving permanent credentials, 1 from the GLC was ordained to Word and Sacrament:
Ken White, Interim Pastor of Forest Park Covenant Church, Muskegon, MI
Craig & Cheryl Wickstrom of First Covenant Church in Ashtabula, Ohio were commissioned as liaisons to the Congo Covenant Church.
Life Church Livonia, Livonia, MI was accepted into membership in the ECC.
Clergy Lifetime Service Recognition was given to 54 individuals. With so many ministers and missionaries continuing to serve rather than retiring from ministry, the ECC decided to honor clergy when they reach age 65. Three GLC pastors were recognized this year:
