Covenant Community Care: Caring for the Community During COVID-19

Covenant Community Care is open and caring for the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of March, we transitioned to providing telehealth services at all sites and are seeing established patients in-person at our Michigan Avenue Clinic on a limited basis. As Detroit’s virus cases continue to surge, Covenant recently began participating in the Coronavirus Community Care Network – a city-wide effort to increase access to COVID-19 testing. It is a time of teamwork, sacrifice and tremendous need. But the story of Covenant has always included this reality.

In the beginning people worked together to create a clinic for Detroit, including many from Evangelical Covenant Churches. They gave their time, talent and treasure to show and share God’s love through healthcare, and it’s made a difference. Covenant has grown since the early days. Even in the most difficult times, our mission remains the same: to show and share the love of God, as seen in the good news of Jesus Christ, by providing integrated, affordable, quality health care to those who need it most.

We are committed to advancing our mission in this time of crisis. However, our city is underserved, our people are uninsured, and coronavirus is hitting hard. While we are responding with a dedicated and compassionate team of healthcare professionals, we need your help!

• Please pray for us. God works through the prayers of His people. Each month, we release a prayer calendar. Here is the April Edition. You can also sign-up to be a prayer partner, and we’ll send you a new calendar every month.
• Make an encouragement video for our staff. We’ve been asking our church partners to send short videos of encouragement to the team. We welcome submissions from congregations throughout the Great Lakes Conference, should you feel so led. Please email [email protected] or call (313) 471-0831 if you are interested.
• Consider sustaining our work through a financial gift. We launched a GoFundMe Campaign last week and are already over halfway to our goal!

We wouldn’t be here, serving those who need it most, without the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Great Lakes Conference. Our mission is bigger than our organization. God calls His people us to show and share His love through both word and deed. Now more than ever, we must. In these times, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)
