CMMBC 2024 Update
How went our walk at Covenant Mountain Mission Bible Camp this year?
We have had a very God filled year here at CMMBC this year. We started out not knowing if we would even be able to do camp because we had no groups commit to come help us do camp. Our Grounds manager/host family couldn’t get approval for Marty’s green card. We struggled to just get the grounds ready and keep the mowing done. We had to purchase a new mower. But after much prayer, we stepped off the cliff into the air knowing the Lord would provide as His will would be done. Oh boy! He provided way beyond our requests.
Alane Barker, one of our board members, who lived on site during the winter with her family while doing improvements at her home, helped do mowing and cleaning early on. Then the Lord provided a hiking couple who had planned to hike the entire Appalachian trail this past summer. Rat (aka Winston) Terry was stricken by a gallbladder attack and so they had to come off trail for surgery and recoup time. He and his wonderful wife, Marcia, agreed to come and help at camp for living space. Little did they know that the Lord was going to use them so mightily at CMMBC. They not only helped with mowing, weed eating, cooking, and cleaning but became our hiking and nature guides for the camps. They were counselors and spoke about their own walks with God. They sure are loved by our campers and staff.
Then there was Caroline and Peter Larson who came from Michigan to help us. Caroline did an amazing job cooking and filling us with love. Peter pitched in and helped everywhere there was a need. Cindy Bagocius and Jackie Lasalle heard the Lord’s call in Ohio. A Trailblazer at a red light let them know they were needed at CMMBC for Trailblazers camp. They came, cooked and filled us with wonder. Gary Johnson and Steve Johnson each came for both Pathfinders and Trailblazers week. They pitched in and helped everywhere.
Then there were the locals. What an amazing group of Christ filled individuals! I’m afraid to even start a list of names here because I might leave someone out. Just thinking about how great they (ALL) are brings tears to my eyes. And that’s some task because I am NOT a crier. God’s amazing love is so wonderful. Not only did the Lord provide all our needs for our 4 regular weeks of camp but we had a church use the grounds for another week of camp and we added an alumni weekend camp.
Once again He reminded us that He will do above all we can imagine when we say yes to following Him. Then Hurricane Helene came by. We had some downed trees and power was off for a week but otherwise the camp was fine. Not so for people not so very far away from us. They are still hurting. Please be in prayer for them as they rebuild.
